Seventh Day of Volunteering
It was raining again today, and so the kids stayed inside the classroom. I got there around 4, and we had small group activities after snack time. I worked with the special ed. kids table and we made a rainbow mosaic. It was really fun working with them and helping them out. Some kids were quiet and worked by themselves, but I did help most of them rip up the pieces, and helped a kid glue a lot of his pieces. One of the kids would not stop poking another kid so he had to be put in a time out. After we finished the small group activities, they continued to play the movie "The Princess and the Frog." The kids really enjoyed the movie, and some could even quote from the movie. I vacuumed around 5:50 and left the place around 6pm making it a total of 2 hours of volunteering.

Sixth Day of Volunteering
I arrived at Crestmoor at 4pm and saw that the kids were watching "Tangled" inside the classroom since it was raining outside. The movie was paused the kids sat on the floor to be dismissed for snack time. I helped set up a table, and as soon as the kids saw I was there, they were excited. I unfortunately had to miss all of last week due to my wisdom teeth and car issues. I really missed helping the kids out because their simple lives and general goodness makes my day better. I walked around all the tables to talk and catch up with the kids and it was nice to see that they too missed me. After snack time, the kids finished the movie. We had free time afterward and I played cards with some of the kids. They were all very excited and loud. One kid could not stop shouting after I warned him to stop, and had to be given an orange card for the day. Orange mean "I did not follow directions." Miss Jackie and I played two games of Speed together then started to clean up. I vacuumed the entire play area. After everything seemed clean and under control I left at 6pm, making my total 2 hours for that day.

Fifth day of volunteering
I arrived at Crestmoor around 2:50pm because I had no school that day. I could only stay until 5:30pm that day making it 2.3 hours. Since it was raining we stayed inside during play time. During homework time, I helped my mentor, Miss Jackie, set up the activity she had planned for later. I cut out clovers for the word unscrambling. This little kid asked me to draw with him so we ended up drawing for most of the homework period. We drew a lot of aliens and spaceships, basically all related to space, and then later we had snack time. After snack time, it was then time for the activity. I helped a group with theirs here and there. The kids enjoyed it a lot because at the end they had to find a special "surprise" and the last card they had to unscramble told them where it was. After the activity was done, we had free time. I again played Sorry and a stacking game with the kids. I couldn't help clean up the classroom since I had to leave early.

Fourth day volunteering
I got to Crestmoor Elementary School at around 3:37pm. I saw all the kids on the black top playing and as soon as I signed in all the kids insisted I play soccer with them. After about half an hour of play time, the kids lined up and then it was snack time. We always ask the kids "sample or serving" when it comes to the snack but they always have to eat a certain amount of fruit or vegetables that day. Today we served organic tortilla chips and a bowl of vegetables. After snack time, we had small group which consisted of the kids sitting at their assigned groups in different tables doing different activities. I helped Coach Al with the invisible ink project and had to deal with a hot stove. The project didn't really work, but the kids and I ended up painting the pictures they drew. After small group activities, the kids had free time so I varied from playing a game of Sorry to helping kids learn to juggle and take turns playing games, and ended it with a nice puzzle with some of the kids. After the puzzle was complete I put them away, and vacuumed the room. I left at 6pm making it 2.15 hours today.
